REPLY: ‘My Parents Reject My Fiancee Because He Is Not Igbo’

Dear N.O,

It is usual for parents to want to be protective of their children even into adulthood.Your decision should be based on how you feel about your boyfriend and whether or not he loves you just as much for didn’t they say love conquers all?

Your decision should be based on how you feel about your boyfriend and whether or not he loves you just as much as you love him. Didn’t they say love conquers all?

My advice is that you talk to your parents like a mature adult by telling them that if they want you to be happy then they should let you marry the man after your heart.

They worry (all parents do!) that you may end up unhappy but I don’t believe that anyone will use any remote means to harm you!

So, tell your parents to pray for you that no harm will come to you and that they should let you marry the man you love.

Good luck with that!

Aunty Grace

That’s good to know, but I will strongly advice you to concentrate on your studies more. Enjoy your relationship but be carefully so you don’t get hurt. Wish you luck!
