Is Princess Mary pregnant? Danish royal ‘to announce fifth baby due’
Their “fairytale” romance and subsequent engagement in 2003 has been given extensive media attention both in Europe and Australia.
A ‘European royal expert’ said they heard the Princess was pregnant and the news would be “very exciting for Australians”, according to Australian weekly magazine New Idea.
The unnamed expert claimed the royal press office had been told to prepare for an announcement on the subject.
The source is reported as saying: “No one saw this coming. But of course, everyone’s very happy – now the twins are at school she felt she was finally ready for another one.”
Princess Mary, who is also the Countess of Monpezat, is already mother to four children – Christian, 11, Isabella, 10, and six-year-old twins Vincent and Josephine.
After meeting in Sydney the pair conducted a long-distance relationship with Frederik making a number of discreet visits to Australia.
She then moved to Denmark whilst she was working as an English tutor in Paris.
The couple became officially engaged on October 8, 2003, and were married in May the next year in Copenhagen Cathedral.
The Danish parliament passed a special law – known as Mary’s Law – giving her Danish citizenship upon her marriage.
The Royals recently hosted Japan’s Prince Naruhito at the Fredensborg Palace in the Danish capital which was also attended by Queen Margrethe.
